Volunteer With ACT!!!
There are countless ways to get ACTive!!! We are always looking for new volunteers to help with a wide variety of activities. Here are some of our current opportunities:
Pet Co Pals- We have a wonderful new opportunity at the Pet Co. in Madera! We will be doing a seven day a week cat program there, and need people who are willing to check in on our kitties there. You can go on whatever day and time works for you. We would like to have someone check on them twice a week (this could be the same person, or two different people). Since we already have cats out there, we would like to get a schedule going as soon as possible.
We will also be having an off-site adoption event every Saturday there. Volunteers are needed to head up, and assist with, this great opportunity! You would be picking up supplies and animals at Sierra Vista at 11am. Volunteers would then go to Pet Co. in Madera, where they would staff the adoption event from 12 to 5. After, they will be bringing back the supplies, and any animals who have not been adopted. We would like to break the event into shifts, so if you are available and interested, we could use your help!
Posh Paws Partners- Another wonderful opportunity for off-site adoptions is at Posh Paws grooming salon and we will need volunteers for it! This one will work in a similar way as the Pet Co. adoption event, but there are two major differences. First, these adoption events will be on Sundays. Second, we will have access to wonderful grooming tools to use on our adoptable dogs!
Caring Cleaners- We always need help with the less glamorous, but extremely important, job of making sure our animals are in a clean healthy environment. Our many dogs create tons of laundry! We need people who are willing to pick up a load (or 2, or 3, or more) of laundry, wash it, and return it. You can pick up/drop off anytime our Sierra Vista adoption center is open, and complete the job whenever is convenient for you!
Terrific Transporters- Both local and long distance transports are another great way to get involved with ACT!
All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before they are ready for their forever homes. This means we are constantly needing people to transport animals to HOPE where they can get spayed and neutered. Many times we just need someone who can meet foster parents at HOPE at about 7:30 am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday; and stay with the animals until they are checked in (usually by 9am).
Do you enjoy road trips? ACT can give you a destination, some adorable fuzzy critters to drop off, and tax deductible gas! Sometimes the best opportunities for our dogs lie outside of the Central Valley. We need people to transport our animals up to Marin, down to LA, and countless other places. Just let us know the days you are available, and how far you are willing to drive!
Sierra Vista Adoption Agents- Our ACT and Friends Adoption Center at Sierra Vista has been a great success because of all the wonderful people who have been helping us, and we can always use more help! Here are some of the opportunties at the Sierra Vista Adoption Center:
*Cat Cuddler - Help clean litter boxes, make sure there is fresh water, talk to adopters about cats, and socialize cats through play and petting.
*Dog Wrangler - Help clean up dog messes, make sure there is fresh water, talk to adopters about dogs, and socialize dogs through walks and petting.
*Caring Cleaner- We also need caring cleaners out at Sierra Vista! Those of you that have been by are adoption center know that we have a lot of mirrors (which means lots of glass to clean!), and we want to make sure they are as clean as possible to show off our great adoptables! There are also always dishes that need to be done, crates to be disinfected, floors to vacuum or mop, and areas to be straightened. This important work keeps our animals healthy!
Fabulous Fosters - Fostering is special. You will have the opportunity, if your application is approved, to foster an animal in need. There is no greater reward then knowing you have saved an animals life, and they will pay you back ten fold with unconditional love! You will be responsible for the animals basic needs: food, water, and shelter. ACT will take care of the medical expenses, and be there to offer support and answer questions.
Marketing - This is for college age students and adults. Animal Compassion Team needs help getting the word out about our events and what we do. A marketing volunteer can volunteer from home as long as they have a computer and access to Internet. We need help with Event Calendars!
Donation Deliverers- ACT is always in need of donations! If you know people, companies, or other sources who would be willing to give, and want to help recruite doners, we would greatly appreciate it! We can give you a donation letter, receipts, and anything else you may need to help you get tax deducible donations!
