Over 40 adoptions, yippee -- Saturday December 19th, 2009
Animal Compassion Team of California has done over 40 adoptions since September and is not slowing down any time soon. In fact, we need more foster homes than ever to help us save more lives! If you are able to provide a loving safe environment for a dog or cat temporarily; please contact us at (559) 272-8696. Fostering usually coincides with medical bills as we foster to give animals a chance to recover or heal from wounds and illness. Medical bills are not cheap and donations are needed to continue to treat broken bones, kennel cough, ear mites, worms, fleas etc. If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause please mail a check to: Joyce Brandon, Animal Compassion Team Treasurer at PO Box 763 Squaw Valley, CA 93675 or click on the PayPal link in the sidebar. Thank you and many happy tails to you!

A Home for Thomas Noodle -- Saturday December 5th, 2009
Thomas Noodle, ACT's first rescue dog, was adopted today to the most wonderful family. Our handsome lovable Pit bull found a home with two other large breed boys. Thomas will have a couch to lounge in with his brothers. We wish him so much luck in love but will miss his charming demeanor. Thank you so much to Chris and Nicole, Thomas’s foster home who welcomed him with open arms and gave him love and treated him as one of their own. He looked so much better after returning from their loving home. The CCSPCA is painting River Park black with BlackOut Adoption Day. We will be bringing out our black fur-babies to help spotlight the sad truth that black animals get overlooked in shelters, as well as, conquering any misconceptions that black animals are mean or unlucky. If you are interested in supporting this adoption event tell your friends and family members to attend. The more people that see these beautiful black fur-babies the more adoptions there will be! River Park Adoption center is located in River Park Shopping Center across from Borders and next door to Rubios.
Animal Compassion Day -- Saturday November 14th, 2009
Animal Compassion Day moved to September due to another wonderful adoption opportunity being held on May 15th! Super Adoption is now happening thanks to Central Valley Coalition for Animals and will be May 15, 2010 at O'Neill Park on the Fresno State University campus. O'Neill Park on the north side of Barstow Avenue between Cedar and Chestnut. There will be approximately 600 dogs and cats at Super Adoption 2010. This is one of the largest adoption events in the United States and a rare opportunity to see such a large and diverse group of pre-screened companion animals. Adoption fees are standardized for the Super Adoption: $100.00 for a dog/puppy and $70.00 for a cat/kitten. According to ValleyAnimalCoalition.org, "Super Adoption 2009 was a super success for the animals! Thanks to the hard work and dedication of hundreds of volunteers representing over twenty shelters and rescue groups in the Central Valley, 215 dogs and 35 cats found new homes!"
15 Adoptions for ACT -- Saturday November 14th, 2009
Bubba (Lab Mix), Marley (Australian Shepherd Mix) and Cody (Border Collie Mix) got adopted today at RiverPark Adoption Center. Marking it a great day for medium to large breed adoptions! Not to mention they were all mixed breed dogs. Yeah! Animal Compassion Team has adopted 15 dogs out as of the end of September and we are not slowing down. The Valley is headed into puppy season and we still are having kittens born every day meaning cat season hasn't slowed down. We need more foster homes to help save more lives! If you are interested in becoming a foster home e-mail us at animalcompassionteam@gmail.com. The most effective way to combat euthanasia in the Valley is to spay and neuter. If you are interested in helping dogs and cats get altered whether by volunteering transport to HOPE or donating money towards this service please contact Brenda Mitchell at brenda.act@gmail.com.
Dirk -- Friday October 16th, 2009
DOLLARS FOR DIRK-- Dirk needs your help! Dirk has what is referred to as a "compound fracture." Because he is so young, we do not yet know if he will be a candidate for corrective surgery or amputation. At the moment, the wonderful vets and staff at Abby Pet Hospital are working hard to control an infection in his joint that Dirk acquired when his bone was exposed. All of these treatments include splint and bandage change and x-rays every 3 days, plus antibiotics. Dirk was rescued from a breeder who had let their litter of 7-week-old purebred Cocker Spaniel puppies out in the yard to play. The neighbor's dog stuck his head under the fence at the exact moment Dirk was walking by. The neighbor's dog chomped down on little Dirk's back right leg, crushing his tiny toes and breaking his leg in two places. When Dirk arrived at the vet, his bone was exposed and the flesh torn away. Despite everything that has happened to him, Dirk is the sweetest of sweet puppies and is thoroughly enjoying his stint in foster care. He gets along with everyone and is just cute as a button! For more information about Dirk, or for information on how to donate to "Dollars for Dirk" please contact his foster mom, Jan, at englishsetterlvr@aol.com. Donations can also be made to Abby Pet Hospital (559.442.1127).
